The name Remy is French and is believed to be derived from Latin, meaning "oarsman". It was the name of Saint Remy, a 5th century bishop who converted and baptised King Clovis, ruler of the Franks. Remy may also possibly be a variant of Remus, which is the name of one the mythical founders of Rome. Remus and his twin brother Romulus were reared by a she-wolf according to the myth, which could allude to Remy's status as a werewolf.
