Hestia Hearth-Woman was a witch and an ancestor of the Harman family. She was born in ancient times and presumably lived in Greece.
Etymology[]
Hestia comes from Ancient Greek, meaning "hearth" or "fireside". In Greek mythology, Hestia is the goddess of the hearth, family and domesticity. In some myths, she is the eldest daughter of the Titans, Cronus and Rhea. In addition to being a traditional Harman name, it also relates to Hestia's surname and heritage as a 'Hearth-Woman'.
Trivia[]
- On the family tree, Hestia's name has "Greek goddess of the hearth" written beside it. This could suggest that Hestia in fact inspired the myths of the goddess Hestia and was renown throughout Ancient Greece, with stories of her eventually re-shaping her as deity. This would be plausible, as in the ancient world, a witch of substantial power, such as a Hearth-Woman, could have been believed to be a god of some kind by those who heard the tales second-hand.
